Chemical-free garden maintenance across Exmouth and surrounding areas. Battery-powered tools as standard. £30/hr with no contracts.
Exmouth is East Devon's largest town, home to around 35,000 residents and stretching from the Exe Estuary in the west to the Jurassic Coast cliffs in the east. With its famous two-mile sandy beach, thriving marina, and strong mix of families, retirees and commuters, it's a town where gardens matter and where reliable, affordable garden maintenance is always in demand.
As your local Exmouth gardener, I provide regular maintenance and one-off services across the whole town and surrounding villages. All regular work is carried out with quiet, battery-powered tools and 100% chemical-free methods with no herbicides, no synthetic pesticides, no artificial fertilisers. Safe for your children, your pets and the wildlife that makes Exmouth special.
Regular visits on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly schedule. Lawn mowing and edging, hedge trimming, weeding, pruning, deadheading and a general tidy-up. Green waste removed as standard and it's included in the price. No contracts, no minimum commitment. Change or cancel anytime.
Exmouth has the widest variety of garden types in East Devon, and I work across all of them:
The older part of town has a mix of Victorian and Edwardian terraces with compact rear gardens, plus some generous plots along the Avenues (Douglas Avenue, Raddenstile Lane, Hartley Road). These mature gardens often have established shrubs, specimen trees and borders that need knowledgeable seasonal care. The sandy, well-drained soil near the seafront suits Mediterranean-style planting lavender, rosemary and cistus do particularly well here.
A quieter residential area south of the town centre, popular with families. Gardens here tend to be medium-sized typical semi-detached and detached plots with lawns, borders and hedges. The proximity to Littleham churchyard (where Lady Nelson is buried) gives the area a settled, village-like character. Soil is sandier than inland areas, with good drainage. New development at Littleham is bringing more gardens that will need establishing from scratch and something I'm happy to help with.
A predominantly residential estate built from the 1970s onwards, with close-knit streets and family-oriented households. Gardens are typically modest but well-loved with lawns, small borders, hedges and the occasional fruit tree. Regular fortnightly maintenance is the most popular service here. The compact layout means my quiet battery tools are a genuine advantage with no petrol mower disturbing the neighbours on a Saturday morning.
Straddling the eastern edge of town with a mix of older village properties and newer developments. Withycombe Village Road has some beautiful established gardens with mature trees. The soil transitions from sandy near the coast to heavier clay as you move inland towards Woodbury drainage can be an issue in lower-lying plots after wet winters. I know which plants handle this well and which struggle.
Properties along the marina and estuary have exposed, windswept conditions. Salt spray is a real factor for anything facing the water. Planting needs to be tough with tamarisk, escallonia, pittosporum and griselinia hedges coping well. If you have a balcony or courtyard garden at the marina, container planting with salt-tolerant species is the way to go.
Exmouth's mild maritime climate means a longer growing season than much of the UK, but it comes with specific challenges:
As well as all areas within Exmouth itself, I cover the surrounding villages: Lympstone, Exton, Woodbury, Woodbury Salterton, Budleigh Salterton, East Budleigh and Topsham.
